Ask-A-Boss #011 - Grateful or Greedy

For most, Thanksgiving is the kickoff to the holiday season. It can be a time of gathering with family, showing appreciation, and reflecting on the year’s events. As business owners, we have much to be grateful for as well.

The question is should mindsight be grateful for being a part of the change and impact that women business owners have made or greedy for more?

Stats for which we are grateful:

1. The Impact Group has found that organizations that prefer women in leadership roles. Female leaders achieve 90% retention rates.

2. In 2021 there were 1821 businesses started every day by women. That is 664,665 new women owned businesses in a singular year according to Fundera

3.Women make up 82.5% of lone entrepreneurs (compared to 69.8% of male entrepreneurs). This is because women are more likely to be self-employed than men,(Aug 8, 2022)

… Be greedy, there still is work to be done. The gender distribution of women in the workforce has been shifting over the years. Women have made significant strides in their journey to equality, but there is still a long way to go.

Check out the graph below. This shows the gender gap by state for our Her Corner members across the country you will see the wage gap is still alive and women make on average 82 cent to every dollar a man makes.

So when you think about if you should be grateful or greedy, it’s about Both. Be grateful for how far we have come but we have a long way to go.

You got this, with the support of HerCorner and OurCorner, so let’s get it done.

If you find you need guidance while scaling to assist in closing the wealth gap in 2023, plan to attend our next Her Corner Info Session – First Fridays December 2nd. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/her-corner-info-session-first-fridays-virtual-tickets-353069920637?aff=ebdsoporgprofile
