Looking Back to Look Forward

Part of your evolution as a business founder, operator, and expander is that you need to evaluate your past performance. Evaluating whether your 2025 decisions and investments as a leader provided an acceptable return is crucial to setting yourself up for success in 2026.

Whether you’re a bootstrapping boutique or somewhat of a more complex operation, I need you to acknowledge this first: Data is a reference point, not a death sentence. And I think that negative first assumption is where the hesitation to analyze key metrics comes from. Some of us believe that if the numbers reveal poor performance or a strategy that isn’t materializing into engagement, leads, and conversions, that our business has no potential to succeed and is doomed. No way!

And I’m doing my part too. In October, I participated in the NVM Town Hall where I encouraged the audience with success stories of how I’ve been able to scale and leverage resources in the region. I preached the gospel of staying the course when you’re not yet sure that your efforts will pay off. At our Hyattsville, MD Her Corner Jr. & Our Corner event, I encouraged our next generation of #bossbabes and #bossboys to dream big in 2026. 

Even in the face of a historically lengthy government shutdown, I’m proud to see that we’ve weathered the storm and are remaining steadfast as we continue to push forward together in community. Always remember, we’re in your corner.
